Filing a lawsuit, or making a claim for a personal injury is a complex process. I’ll simplify everything for you and explain what you need to know. I’ve worked on both sides of insurance lawsuits and I understand how insurance companies work and how their defense lawyers think.
I have experience with the Negligence Act, Occupier’s Liability Act, Insurance Act, and the Statutory Accident Benefits Regulation, to name a few.

What Should I Bring To My Initial Consultation On Personal Injury?
Generally the more information you can bring, the better. I am trying to assist you and in order to be able to assess your chances of successfully suing the at fault party, I want to know as much about you and your case as I can. Some of the most obvious things I require include a copy of the police report (in a motor vehicle accident case) outlining the name of the driver who hot you, his or her insurer, whether charges were laid, etc. If you have photos of the damage to your car, bring those too. If you have taken pictures of your injuries, I want to see those too. Other information can include a copy of your current resume , details of your most current employment. Be prepared to discuss your current employment situation in detail and why you are unable to work if that is the case. Also provide a list of all the doctors/treatment providers you have seen or will be seeing as a result of your injuries. Details of the hospital you attended after the accident and what was said by the ER staff to you about your injuries as well as the results of any x-rays or testing completed by the hospital/family doctor. Bring your identification including license, OHIP card and SIN number. Most important of all, be prepared to discuss the accident in detail and its impact on you and your family.
What Is The Average Payout For A Personal Injury Claim?
The average payout for a personal injury claim is incredibly difficult to determine. Why? No two cases are identical because every single person is different. Consider two people in a motor vehicle accident, where one person comes out cuts and bruises and the other has an injury to the spine (but not visible to the eye). There are many factors to consider and as such every person’s payout is different because there are so many factors involved. And don’t be fooled by personal injury payout calculators because they are just a marketing ploy.
How Long Does It Take To Settle A Personal Injury Claim?
This is great question. The short response is that it depends and that’s a straight up honest answer. This is because there are a multitude of factors that are involved. To ensure that you get your fair value, we do what we can to speed up the process while ensuring we follow all legal procedures properly. One thing to keep in mind is that you only get one chance at this. It is in your best interest to collect all the information necessary so that we can get possible settlement. However, it would be fair to say that most individuals or clients of mine look at approximately 2-3 years to settle a personal injury claim.
