25+ Years of Experience in Personal Injury and Disability Law
Focused on Personal Injury and Disability Claims – And Getting Results
I’m Derek Wilson – And I Understand How Frustrating This Can Be
Whether you’ve been injured in an accident or denied long-term disability benefits, the last thing you need is a legal fight. You’re already dealing with pain, stress, and uncertainty — and now your claim is delayed or denied. I’m here to help you change that.

ToggleI’ve been practicing law since 1993, and I’ve spent most of my career dealing with insurance companies — both fighting for them, and fighting against them. That insider knowledge makes a big difference when it comes to helping real people get what they’re owed.

I Focus Exclusively on Personal Injury and Disability Claims
At my firm, I don’t try to be everything to everyone. I work only with clients who have been physically injured or unfairly denied disability benefits — and I take on a limited number of cases at a time so I can give each one the attention it deserves.
If you’ve been seriously hurt in a car accident, slip and fall, or another incident — or if your long-term disability claim has been delayed, underpaid, or outright denied — I’ll stand by your side and help you fight back.
How My Background Helps You
I started my legal career in Hamilton, then completed my Master of Laws with Merit at the London School of Economics in 1997. From there, I became a partner at a Toronto firm where I defended insurance companies in personal injury and disability cases. I saw firsthand how they try to protect their bottom line — and I use that knowledge today to help people like you stand up to them.
In 2009, I came home to Hamilton. In 2013, I opened my own firm so I could focus on doing things my way: being transparent, staying involved in every case, and putting my clients first.

What to do after an accident
The calm after the storm.
What to do after a car accident
- File a police report
- Record names and addresses of witnesses.
- Exchange insurance information and details with the other driver, if applicable
- See your family doctor as soon as possible
- Notify your insurance company as soon as possible and within 7 days of the incident
- Keep receipts of all related expenses
- Record dates and time spent caring for injuries
- See if you are covered under other policies (i.e. through work, school or private plans)
- Apply for Accident Benefits within 30 days
- Call a lawyer whose focus is in personal injury law.
Remember, there are strict guidelines to file a claim against an insurer or a person who you believe is at fault for your accident. I can guide you through the process, you can and will recover.
What to consider when selecting a personal injury lawyer
- Will your lawyer meet with you for an initial consultation free of charge?
- Will they advocate strongly on your behalf?

- Resolve cases efficiently, fairly and effectively
- Be honest and display the upmost integrity
- Have worked both sided of personal injury law; plaintiff and insurance defence?
- Clearly explain the fee structure
